Michigan Community Service Commission

The Michigan Community Service Commission strives to build a culture of service by providing vision and resources to strengthen communities through volunteerism. MCSC's duties include: Develop a three-year comprehensive national and community service plan for the state that shall be updated annually; Oversee and submit the state's applications to the Corporation for National and Community Service and other public and private funding sources; Establish policies and procedures for the use of federal funds; and Develop initiatives to promote community service in coordination with existing programs.

The Commission consists of 25 members, each of a particular expertise, to serve 3-year terms. Not more than 50% of the voting members of the commission, plus 1 additional member, shall be from the same political party.
