Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority

The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority is responsible for overseeing the development, ongoing management, and operation of the TCF Center, formerly Cobo Hall, in an efficient and effective manner. Created by the Regional Convention Facility Authority Act of 2008; the authority is a municipal public body corporate and politic, and is a metropolitan authority authorized by section 27 of article VII of the state constitution of 1963. The Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority is not a state authority or a state agency.
 
The Board of Directors consists of 5 members: one appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate, one appointed by the Mayor of Detroit (qualified city), one appointed by the Wayne County Executive (qualified county), one appointed by the Oakland County Executive (county bordering the qualified county with the highest population according to the most recent decennial census bordering the qualified county), and one appointed by the Macomb County Executive (county bordering the qualified county with the second highest population according to the most recent decennial census). Board members appointed under this section shall possess business, financial, or professional experience relevant to the operation of a corporation or a convention facility. No board member shall be an employee or officer of any local government or of this state. Appointments are for 6-year terms.
