Elevator Safety Board

The Elevator Safety Board was created by PA 227 of 1967. Among its major responsibilities are promulgation of rules, preparation of examinations, and issuance of elevator contractor licenses.
The Board consists of 11 members. 10 of the board members are appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to serve 4-year terms. Upon expiration of a term, a member may continue to serve until a successor is appointed. The 11th board member is the Director of the Department. The appointments of this board are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
