Michigan Board of Real Estate Appraisers

Article 26 of Public Act 299 of 1980, as amended, was created to license and regulate the services of real estate appraisers in Michigan. This law was enacted as the result of federal legislation, Title XI of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery and Enforcement Act of 1989, which required states to license real estate appraisers.

The Board works with the Department to oversee the practice of approximately 6,011 limited real estate appraisers, state licensed appraisers, certified general appraisers and certified residential appraisers. Appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
