Michigan Statewide Independent Living Council

Pursuant to Executive Order 2020-130, the Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is an independent agency created by a Governor's Executive Order (EO1994-23, EO2007-49, and EO 2012-15, EO 2016-11) in accordance with the Rehabilitation Act that requires each state to establish a SILC to be eligible for federal funding under the Act.
The Commission is comprised of 16 members, 11 of whom are appointed by the Governor. Members will serve three-year terms, after the initial term of appointment.  Appointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
