    Laboratory Services

    Laboratory services are provided for a variety of environmental programs throughout the state, including drinking water, bathing beaches, public swimming pools, air quality, hazardous waste management, geological survey, law, and many others. These services include physical, chemical, and microbiological testing. The laboratory has broad scientific capabilities for responding to new potential environmental concerns.

    The Laboratory Certification Program operates under the authorization of the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act, 1976 PA 399, as amended (Act 399), and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to certify laboratories for the analysis of drinking water.
    The Drinking Water Analysis Laboratory offers services for the analysis of drinking water quality.
    The Environmental Laboratory of the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is the only state-run environmental laboratory for analyzing environmental samples for state government facilities.
