Next Generation Grant, Application, and Cash Management
Welcome to NexSys, the Michigan Department of Education's (MDE) electronic grant, application, and cash management system!
NexSys is a web-based system providing a paperless process for submitting grant applications and completing accounting processes for federal grant applications.
NexSys Features Include:
- One system for State and Federal grant management, and federal grant payments
- Customizable user dashboard for ease in monitoring application activities
- Announcements panel for keeping current on important system notices
How to Access NexSys
1. Create a MiLogin for Business Account
MiLogin for Business is the State of Michigan’s single sign-on software that allows users to access systems including CEPI, MICIP, NexSys, and GEMS/MARS. This webpage is not the same as MiLogin, which is used for actions such as the Secretary of State for license renewals.

2. Complete Security Access Form
A NexSys Security Access Form must be completed to become an Authorized Official or Accounting Entity Certifier. Please send your completed Security Access Form to MDE-NexSys-Applications@Michigan.gov. For assistance in completing this form, please review the How to Complete the Security Form Guide PDF.
Removing User Access
To remove user access, please complete the CEPI Removal Form and email it to CEPI@Michgan.gov for processing.

NexSys User Security Level Roles and Descriptions
All lower entity security levels are assigned and maintained by the Authorized Official or Accounting Entity Certifier. For more information, please review the Adding or Inactiving Entity User Instructions PDF.Security Level Role Name Role Description Authorized Official - Entity users responsible for initiating applications, submitting applications and maintaining list of users for the entity.
- An Authorized Official is an individual that can legally sign a binding agreement between the entity/organization and the State of Michigan.
- Each entity is allowed three authorized officials.
Accounting Entity Certifier - Access is required for completing cash draws and submitting Federal Final Expenditure Reports (FERs).
- Each entity may have more than two Accounting Entity Certifiers.
