Reception (Quarantine)

General

The Charles Egeler Reception & Guidance Center sits on 53 acres and also houses the 122-bed Duane L. Waters Health Care Center. Egeler, along with the Southern Michigan Correctional Facility and   Parnall Correctional Facility , was carved out of the old State Prison of Southern Michigan (SPSM). The maximum-security health care center within the facility provides medical services to both male and female prisoners from many of the state's prisons and camps.

Security

The perimeter of the facility is protected by a double chain link fence, electronic monitoring systems and razor-ribbon wire. An emergency-response vehicle also patrols the perimeter.
