Whereas, Homeownership strengthens families, stabilizes neighborhoods, builds
communities, enhances self-sufficiency and promotes personal well-being; and,
Whereas, Homeownership fosters economic prosperity for families and communities,
as well as generates economic growth; and,
Whereas, Local, state and federal government agencies, builders, lenders, realtors
and nonprofit organizations are actively engaged in increasing homeownership
opportunities for the people of Michigan and are doing so by working together
in partnership; and,
Whereas, These individuals, agencies and organizations actively seek to increase
the homeownership rate to all-time high; and now therefore be it,
Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, Governor of the State of Michigan,
do hereby proclaim June, 2003, as Homeownership Month in Michigan, and I encourage
all citizens to recognize and support the efforts of those who help provide
the opportunity for others to live the American Dream of homeownership.
