The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the medical license of Everette Bernard Hambric, M.D., based on his felony convictions in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division. Hambric failed to report his convictions to the MDCH as required by the Public Health Code.
On March 24, 2004, Hambric was convicted of one felony count of Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substances and one felony count of Health Care Fraud, Aiding and Abetting. As a result, Hambric was sentenced to prison for 46 months on each count (to be served concurrently), followed by supervised release for three years. Additionally, Hambric was ordered to pay an assessment of $200 and restitution of $9,990.
On December 16, 2004, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Hambric’s license according to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional’s license upon the conviction of a felony. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Hambric’s medical license.
