The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the pharmacist license of Rachad Ali Khalil, R.Ph. The MDCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public’s health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.
The suspension was a result of an investigation conducted by MDCH, which revealed that Khalil dispensed fraudulent controlled substance prescriptions, dispensed the refills at the same time the original prescription was filled, and accepted cash payments for the controlled substances dispensed pursuant to the fraudulent prescriptions.
On January 7, 2005, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Khalil’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Khalil’s pharmacist license.
