    Federal laws and regulations require states to monitor discipline data. Monitoring discipline data is important because exclusionary practices, such as suspension and expulsion, are often associated with unfavorable student outcomes. This series of videos helps explain why it is important and how Michigan collects and analyzes data.

  • Office of Special Education Requests Public Comment on the FFY 2016 Part B of IDEA Application

    The Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education requests public participation in the review of their Annual State Application Under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act for Federal Fiscal Year 2016. Public review is from March 3, 2016 through May 2, 2016. Written comment will be accepted through April 3, 2016.

    The focused monitoring priority areas for Cycle 3 of the 2015-16 school year. This document identifies the districts participating in focused monitoring activities along with their priority area. Cycle 3 activities will take place in February and March of 2016.
