Apply Now to Serve on the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council

The Michigan Department of Education is now accepting applications from teachers interested in serving as one of twenty members of the new Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council for the 2017-2018 school year.  Members will have the opportunity to:

  • Engage directly with state policy makers on issues related to the implementation of Michigan’s Every Student Succeeds Act;
  • Help build the Michigan Teacher Leader Network; and
  • Encourage other teachers to engage in opportunities for dialogue and feedback on issues in education policy.

The competitive application and selection process seeks teachers representative of the diversity of Michigan students and schools with:

  • Experience or interest in teacher leadership positions;
  • Passion for various issues in Michigan education policy; and
  • The ability and desire to influence and support other teachers.

Teachers selected to serve on the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council will receive a $500 honorarium in recognition of their time commitment and valuable contributions. The application period for teachers to serve on the Michigan Teacher Leadership Advisory Council is open through Friday, June 16, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.
