The MSHDA Office of Housing Voucher Programs provides rental assistance throughout the State of Michigan in the form of subsidies, through the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program, to more than 24,000 very low-income households that meet eligibility criteria established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Generally households do not pay more than 40% of their income for rent and utilities. The HCV program is one of many programs administered by MSHDA for HUD in the State of Michigan. Click here to view a presentation specifically for Landlords.

The quickest, easiest way to receive your Housing Assistance Payments (HAP) is to have it directly deposited through Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) into your bank account. MSHDA encourages Direct Deposit of the HAP. It is secure, fast, and convenient.
