Certain vehicles are registered by value (base price), as listed in the Michigan Department of State's Michigan License Plate Fees and Base Prices booklet. The base price is the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) shown at the top of the vehicle's window sticker before any options or taxes are added.
