The 32-mile North Western State Trail is part of an extensive regional trail network that connects Petoskey, Alanson, Pellston and Mackinaw City. The 7-mile section of trail between M-119 in Petoskey and Powers Road in Alanson has an asphalt surface. The 23-mile segment of trail between Alanson and Mackinaw City was improved in 2015 with has a packed crushed limestone surface.
Please note that snowmobiles are permitted during the winter months.
