MDHHS statement on recent Michigan coronavirus activity

LANSING, Mich. – The individual transported from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport to a local hospital on Feb. 4 did not meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria for 2019 Novel Coronavirus testing and is not a person under investigation.
CDC criteria for testing includes the following:
- Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to Hubei Province within 14 days of symptom onset.
- Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to mainland China within 14 days of symptom onset.
- Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND exposure to a laboratory-confirmed 2019 Novel Coronavirus case.
No additional information will be released about this individual.
