Betsie River Pathway
The Betsie River Pathway, a 10-mile trail winding along the Betsie River south of Traverse City and 6 miles west of Thompsonville, offers two distinct loops. The first, a 6.6-mile loop, traverses mostly flat terrain through wooded areas. The second, a 2.8-mile loop, offers a more varied experience with meadows and wooded sections. The trail also connects to Crystal Mountain's Aspen Trail.
The trails are groomed for cross-country skiing during the winter months (approximately mid-December through February).
Both loops are open to mountain biking. This wooded trail has some slow, steep uphill curves, is narrow and is considered moderately technical by most riders. This trail is popular for fat-tire biking in the winter months. Snowshoers are asked to stay off tracks groomed for cross-country skiing.
