Chain of Lakes Water Trail
Chain of Lakes Water Trail
The Chain of Lakes Water Trail is a 100+ mile network of waterways in northwest Michigan, spanning four counties and 84 access sites. It's divided into the Upper and Lower Chains, separated by a dam in Bellaire.
The water trail meanders through 12 interconnected lakes and rivers, ultimately flowing into the stunning East Grand Traverse Bay. Paddlers can explore charming towns like Ellsworth, Central Lake, Bellaire, and Elk Rapids, each offering easy access to a variety of amenities, from delicious restaurants to unique shops.
Paddle Antrim, a 501(c)3 non-profit working to protect our waterways, offers a waterproof guidebook and a digital map that can be downloaded through Avenza Maps.
