Embark on a year-round adventure on the 5.9-mile Pine Bowl Pathway, located just minutes from Sault Ste. Marie in Chippewa County. The multiuse pathway is great for year-round adventure, including cross-country skiing. Choose between a 2- or 5.7-mile loop and take in the wonders of the Lake Superior State Forest and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Upper Peninsula. Although cross-country skiing is a popular activity on the trail, it's not groomed.
Trail activities
Cross-country skiing
All 5.9 miles of trail are groomed in the winter season for cross-country skiing with the help of volunteers.
Equestrian
The trail is open to horseback riding, although there are a limited number of parking spots at the trailhead and the park has limited maneuverability for trailers. No water is available.
Hiking
The pathway is great for day hikes.
Mountain biking
Bicyclists are asked to watch for foot traffic.
Snowshoeing
Snowshoeing is allowed at this location; however, snowshoers are asked to stay off tracks groomed for cross-country skiing.
