Towerman's Watch Pathway
The Towerman's Watch Pathway, a scenic 3-mile loop hike, winds through towering pines and offering glimpses of the Pigeon River within the Pigeon River Country State Forest in Otsego County. Along the way, you'll discover historical landmarks like the Witness Tree (1850 land survey marker) and the P.S. Lovejoy Monument, honoring the dedicated conservationist. Experience the legacy of fire observation at the site of the former Pigeon River Middle Fire Tower, where vigilant towermen once guarded the forest. Some sections of the trail present moderate to challenging terrain. The trail begins at the Pigeon River Country State Forest headquarters building.
