Welcome to the Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS)
Previously known as the Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR), DIFS is responsible for regulating Michigan's financial industries, including banks, credit unions, insurance, mortgage companies, and other consumer finance lenders. The department consists of over 350 professionals dedicated to providing a business climate that promotes economic growth while protecting Michigan consumers by ensuring the companies that it regulates are safe, sound and entitled to public confidence.
