Alternate Assessment
MI-Access is Michigan's alternate assessment system, designed for students with cognitive impairments whose individualized educational program (IEP) team has determined that MEAP assessments, even with accommodations, are not appropriate. MI-Access satisfies the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as reauthorized in 2004 and the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001 that require all students with disabilities be assessed at the state level.

Center for Educational Networking
The Center for Educational Networking (CEN) supports the statewide communication and dissemination efforts of the OSE-EIS and statewide projects and initiatives funded through OSE-EIS. OSE-EIS and the statewide improvement initiatives funded through IDEA depend on CEN as a central resource for print and digital communication services. CEN provides services related to Web site development and support, document design and editing, information dissemination, and conference coordination support.

Compliance Information System
The MIchigan Compliance Information System (MI-CIS) is a system of live support and an easy-to use, web-based computer application for special education and early intervention compliance management and student tracking.

Continuous Improvement & Monitoring Systems (CIMS)
The Continuous Improvement and Monitoring System (CIMS) is the system used by the state to promote positive outcomes and ensure compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.

CIMS was designed to help locals analyze and interpret data and keep track of all monitoring activities in a single location. CIMS reflects the priorities of the IDEA 2004 and the State Performance Plan (SPP) and is aligned with the School Improvement Framework.

Early On Public Awareness
Each State in the U.S. has an early intervention system. In Michigan, it is called Early On. This system of early intervention services is for infants and toddlers, birth to three years of age, with developmental delay(s) and/or disabilities, and their families.

Early On® Michigan is the system of early intervention services for infants and toddlers, birth to three years of age, with developmental delays and/or disabilities. Early On supports families as their children learn and grow.

Early On Training and Technical Assistance
Early On® Training and Technical Assistance (EOT&TA) offers personnel development to Michigan's early intervention service providers and parents. In particular, EOT&TA supports personnel in the 57 service areas throughout Michigan who provide services to infants and toddlers through Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), known as Early On® Michigan.

EOT&TA is funded by IDEA through a grant awarded by the Michigan Department of Education to provide the comprehensive system of personnel development mandated by IDEA. EOT&TA's primary purpose is to assist service areas in complying with the federal regulations and state policy related to Early On® Michigan. EOT&TA provides support, information, and training related to Early On processes, child development, developmental assessment of infants and toddlers, early intervention strategies, and state and national initiatives.

Michigan Alliance for Families
Michigan Alliance for Families and Michigan Alliance - PTI provide information, support, and education to families of children and young adults with disabilities from birth to age 26. Michigan Alliance connects families to resources in their own community. In established geographic areas, the groups also help facilitate parent involvement as a means of improving services and results for children with disabilities. The efforts of Michigan Alliance align with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to help improve results for children with disabilities. Michigan Alliance can assist you in knowing your rights, effectively communicating your child's needs, and advising how to help your child develop and learn.

Michigan's Integrated Behavior and Learning Support Initiative (MiBLSi)
Michigan's Integrated Behavior and Learning Support Initiative (MiBLSI) is designed to help schools develop schoolwide support systems in reading and behavior. MiBLSi is a Response to Intervention (RtI) model that takes approximately three years to complete.

Michigan's Integrated Technology Supports (MITS)
The overall purpose of Michigan's Integrated Technology Supports (MITS) is to provide information services, support materials, technical assistance, and training to local and intermediate school districts in Michigan in order to increase the capacity to address the needs of students with disabilities for assistive technology.

Michigan Special Education Mediation Program
The Michigan Special Education Mediation Program (MSEMP) helps parents, educators, and service providers develop productive relationships for resolving issues in early intervention and special education.

Michigan Transition Outcomes Project
The Michigan Transition Outcomes Project (MI-TOP) facilitates the development of effective systems that support students to achieve postsecondary outcomes, contain measurable student focused planning, student development activities, and continuous family and community involvement. The project supports the implementation of effective transition practices to ensure all students are prepared for postsecondary education, employment, and independent living.

MDE Low Incidence Outreach
The Michigan Department of Education, Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) provides technical assistance and resources to enable local service providers to serve and improve the quality of education for students with a visual impairment or those who are deaf/hard of hearing including those with multiple impairments.

Project Find Michigan
Project Find Michigan is a statewide system of service to promote the awareness of special education supports and/or services provided by the public school system.

Reaching and Teaching Struggling Learners Initiative
The Reaching and Teaching Struggling Learners (RTSL) Initiative hopes to ensure positive outcomes for struggling learners by exploring effective secondary school practices and their impact on ALL students.

Statewide Autism Resources and Training (START)
The STatewide Autism Resources and Training (START) project is committed to creating a sustainable structure of support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders within each region of Michigan by provide training and technical assistance to educators and families that support students on the autism spectrum.
