Michigan's Freedom of Information Act
Michigan's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except those incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records. Requests to inspect or receive Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) records must describe the requested records with enough detail so that we can identify them. You will receive a prompt written response to your request which will either grant your request or explain why part or all of it cannot be granted. A fee might be charged for processing your request.
See Michigan's Freedom of Information Act Law.
The Department's FOIA policies & procedures, summary and invoice can be viewed here.
Much of our data, reports and statisctics are available on the Reports and Statistics page.
FOIA requests can be submitted via mail, fax, email or online.
