The Michigan State Police Training Academy is located off I-96, Lansing Road Exit 98A, at: 7426 North Canal Road, Lansing, Michigan 48913.

This modern high-rise building, constructed in 1974, contains 104 dormitory rooms capable of accommodating 208 persons. It includes complete food service facilities capable of seating 275 persons.

The training facilities include eight classrooms of varying sizes to accommodate 30-70 people, a computer skills training center, an auditorium with seating capacity for 250 people, and a training scenario house.

The indoor firearms range has 15 automated positions for firearms training with distances up to 25 yards. The Academy training pool is six lanes wide and 25 yards long.

Priority for program participation will be first given to law enforcement, then to other criminal justice entities, and finally to other government agencies.

Precision Driving Facility

The Precision Driving Facility is located on a 42 acre site adjacent to the Michigan State Police Training Academy. The purpose of this facility is to provide emergency vehicle operations training to the law enforcement community. Advanced precision driving programs are offered to both in-state and out-of-state certified police officers. Enrollment is based upon availability and submission of the Training Division enrollment form.
