LANSING, MICH. Pursuant to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Executive Order 2020-9 directing dine-in services of all bars and restaurants to close by 3PM today, the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) reminds its 19,000 liquor licensees to strictly adhere to this order, or be subject to penalties of the Liquor Code, including suspension or possible loss of their liquor license.
Any licensee who disregards the governor’s executive order will be jeopardizing their liquor license, and the ramifications could go beyond a misdemeanor charge. These measures are in place first and foremost to protect the health and safety of our fellow citizens. The governor’s order will be enforced by state and local law enforcement agencies now through March 30, 2020.
Licensees have a responsibility to take all necessary steps to minimize the risk and combat the spread of the coronavirus in their communities all across Michigan. We understand that these decisions will impact the way we do business, but the decisions we make now will allow us to get our economy back on track sooner rather than later.
