Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Receives $27,000 in Donations
March 3, 2018
Two Michigan based organizations helped the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Fund come $27,000 closer to achieving its fundraising goal.
Lear Corporation has donated $5,000 and the Police Officers Association of Michigan (POAM) has contributed $4,000 to the Memorial Monument Fund. With the state’s current two-to-one matching grant these donations total $27,000.
“The Commission extends its heartfelt thanks to Lear Corporation and POAM for supporting Michigan’s law enforcement community,” said John Szczubelek, assistant attorney general and chairperson of the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Fund Commission. “These donations make a significant impact towards reaching our fundraising goal and helping raise a monument for Michigan’s fallen officers.”
The Commission asks residents and businesses to consider donating to support the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument. Tax deductible donations can be made online by visiting www.mleom.org.
The Michigan Legislature created the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Monument Fund 12 years ago to oversee the financing, design, and construction of a permanent memorial monument to honor the approximately 600 Michigan law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
