This more secluded, rustic campground is nestled among hardwoods on Avery Lake. There are 16 sites for tent and small trailer use, 10 of which will accommodate a 40-foot long vehicle or trailer, and three walk-in, tent-only sites.
The campground is located 9 miles southwest of Atlanta via County Road 487 and Avery Lake Road.

What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.

A boat launch is located on Avery Lake.
Fishing
Perch, bass, pike, bluegill and walleye are caught in Avery Lake. Other nearby fishing opportunities include Crooked Lake (5 miles north) and Thunder Bay River (7 miles northeast).
Hunting
This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
*Note: There is an equestrian campground and trails in close proximity. Please use caution.
ORV trails or routes
There are many miles of state forest roads, county roads and designated ORV trails in this area. ORVs can be ridden from your campsite to access these routes. All other ORV use within the campground is prohibited. Please be mindful that many of these routes are mixed use and may have other types of recreational visitors including equestrian use.
