This rustic campground, located near Bass Lake, offers 18 campsites for tents and small trailers. Sites range from shaded by trees to open fields perfect for stargazing.
Bass Lake is just a short walk away. You can access it via a gravel road or stairs from the campground parking area. The 145-acre lake is a popular spot for fishing (pike, bass, and panfish) and paddle sports.
The campground is located 15.5 miles northwest of Newberry via M-123 North, County Road 407 and Carlson Camp Road.
What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.

A boat launch is located on Bass Lake, across the road from the campground. No-wake rules are in place.
Fishing
Pike, panfish and bass are caught in Bass Lake. Nearby fishing opportunities include Buckeye Lake (1 mile west) and Murray Lake (1 mile north).
Hunting
This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
Paddling
Explore Bass Lake from the campground. Carry-in access is located approximately 30 yards from the parking area, across the road from the campground.
