Cusino Lake State Forest Campground
This rustic campground is located on Cusino Lake, a 140-acre lake known for muskie and perch fishing. All six sites are on the lake and offer direct water access for paddling or swimming. Trail 8 is accessible from the campground. The campground is secluded, quaint and fewer than 10 miles from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The operation of an ORV and snowmobile between the campground and nearby trails is allowed.
There are six sites for tent and small trailer use. The campground is located 24 miles northeast of Shingleton via H-15, H-58 and Ross Lake Road.
What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.

Muskie, perch and largemouth bass are caught in Cusino Lake. Nearby fishing opportunities include Canoe Lake (two miles west) and Gemini Lake (three miles northwest).
Hunting
This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.

The operation of an ORV between the campground and nearby trails is allowed. Trail 8 can be accessed from the campground via county roads.
