This rustic campground is ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat. The campground is shaded by upland hardwood forest and is situated on Gene's Pond, a lake offering paddling and fishing opportunities. There is a large parking area near the boat launch for vehicles and boat trailers.
There are 14 sites for tent, small trailer and large trailer use. This is a "carry-in, carry-out" unit. Trash barrels are not provided. Please help keep the campground clean and take camping refuse to dumpsters located at the Gwinn Field Office. The campground is located 6.5 miles northwest of Felch via County Road 581 and County Road 422.
What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.

Bass, pike, walleye and panfish are caught in Gene’s Pond. A nearby fishing opportunity is Pickerel Lake (3 miles northeast).
Hunting
This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
Paddling
Explore Gene’s Pond from the campground. Carry-in access is located approximately 50 yards from the parking area.
