King Lake State Forest Campground
Discover a rustic campground with six sites for tent and small trailer camping, situated on the north shore of King Lake. The 498-acre lake is a prime destination for anglers, with bass, panfish and crappie in abundance, and paddlers will love exploring its picturesque rocky islands. The surrounding area is also known for frequent moose, eagle, and loon sightings.
The campground is located 14.8 miles east of Covington via US-141 North, US-41 South and King Lake Road.

There is a boat launch on King Lake. This launch is ideal for smaller fishing boats and carry-in access.

Northern pike, perch, crappie, largemouth bass and smallmouth bass are caught in King Lake.

This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.

What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.
