Muskrat Lake State Forest Campground
This secluded rustic campground is nestled on Muskrat Lake, a shallow, warm-water lake with excellent opportunities for paddling and fishing. There are 13 sites for tent and small trailer use.
The campground is located 12 miles northwest of Mio via M-33 North, West Miller Road, Richardson Road and Muskrat Lake Road.

Bass, blue gill and pike can be caught in Muskrat Lake.
Hunting
This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.
ORV trails or routes
This campground is the trailhead with direct access to the Mio Trail which offers 25 miles of cycle and ATV trail along with 12 miles full-sized vehicle route. It also connects to the Hunt Creek Loop of the Hunt Creek ATV Trail (six miles northeast). ORV’s may be ridden within campground when accessing the trails.

Paddling is located on Muskrat Lake. Carry-in access is centrally located in the campground.

Winter camping
This rustic campground is open all year; however, the campground and seasonal roads are not plowed.
What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.
