Shoepac Lake State Forest Campground
Shoepac Lake (52 acres) is a prime spot for fishing and paddling. This campground offers 25 sites for tents and trailers (all sizes), with an undeveloped boat launch for paddlers. Explore nearby limestone sinkholes via the Sinkhole Pathway, or enjoy 70 miles of trails on the High Country Pathway. The area is known for excellent hunting and fishing, with abundant wildlife. ORVs are not allowed in this campground.
The campground is located 12 miles southeast of Onaway via M-33 South and Tomahawk Lake Highway.

Boat launch
An undeveloped, carry-in boat launch is located on Shoepac Lake. The launch is located off the road, 200 yards past the campground entrance. No-wake rules apply.

Panfish, largemouth bass and rainbow trout can be found in Shoepac Lake. Additional fishing opportunities include Tomahawk Lake (1 mile south) and Tomahawk Creek Flooding (1.5 miles south).

This campground provides access to state land open to hunting. Firearm hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of an occupied dwelling.

What to expect, finding a site
These rustic campgrounds offer stunning river and lakefront settings, perfect for fishing, boating, and paddling. Here's what you can expect:
- No reservations. Sites available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- There are vault toilets.
- Potable (drinking) water is available from a hand-pump well.
- No electrical available.
- Overnight fees ($20 for most sites) and registration procedures are posted at the information kiosk at each campground.
- Camping is limited to a 15-day maximum stay.
- One camping unit and six people are allowed per site.
