Trout Lake State Forest Campground

Trout Lake water levels

In April 2025, the DNR began an emergency drawdown of the Trout Lake Dam to prevent a potential structural failure and uncontrolled water release. Consequently, the water level on Trout Lake has significantly receded. Alternately, campers can enjoy nearby House and Hoister lakes.

This secluded, rustic campground offers 35 sites for tents and small trailers. Located within the Gladwin Field Trail Area and near House and Hoister lakes (Trout Lake has receded due to an emergency drawdown), the campground is split into three small loops. Visitors can enjoy excellent fishing, hiking, and other outdoor activities, with direct access to the scenic 2.8-mile Trout Lake Pathway. The campground is a neighbor to the House Lake State Forest Campground, and site 19 is a pull-through.

The campground is located 17 miles north of Gladwin via M-18 N and Adams Road.
