Bridge Card Update: Upgraded chip- and tap-enabled Bridge Cards are coming later in 2026. To ensure you receive your new card, make sure your mailing address is current. If an update is needed, log in to your MI Bridges account at Michigan.gov/MIBridges and select “Report Changes” on the dashboard.
Effective April 1, 2025, the maximum number of months an adult recipient can receive cash assistance under the Family Independence Program (FIP) will increase from 48 months to 60 months.
The 60-month limit will automatically be applied to cash applications filed on or after March 22, 2025.
If a client had their FIP close for reaching the 48-month time limit, they may apply for FIP for up to 12 additional months, but they must meet the eligibility requirements for FIP at the time they apply.

Applicants for cash assistance will take part in a robust, results-oriented work participation program - PATH. The new program features a 21-day assessment period during which barriers to employment are identified and caseworkers work individually with clients to connect them with resources to address these barriers.

State Disability Assistance (SDA) provides cash assistance to eligible disabled adults. If you are the caretaker of a disabled person or are age 65 or older, you may be eligible for SDA.
To qualify for cash assistance, children must be a part of your family and meet age requirements.
