Michigan's Freedom of Information Act
Michigan's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides all persons (except those incarcerated in correctional facilities) with access to public records. Requests to inspect or receive Department of Human Services (DHS) records must describe the requested records with enough detail that DHS can identify them. You will receive a prompt written response to your request which will either grant your request or explain why part or all of it cannot be granted. A fee might be charged for processing your request.
FOIA requests can be submitted via mail, fax, email or online.
