The Michigan Child Protection Law requires certain people to report their suspicions of child abuse or neglect to Child Protection Services at the Department of Human Services.

Physical and behavioral indicators of child abuse and/or neglect that may be used as guidelines for when to make a CPS complaint.

There are several issues that are generally not considered abuse or neglect in the absence of other indicators.

• Training
DHS will provide training to mandated reporters regarding their requirement to report suspected child abuse and/or neglect.
