How to become licensed if I'm moving to Michigan from another state:

A producer moving to Michigan from another state can obtain a Michigan license for the qualifications that were held in the prior home state, without prelicensing or examination, if the prior home state license was surrendered within the previous 90 days. If the prior home state license was surrendered more than 90 days ago, but less than 12 months ago, the producer can obtain a Michigan license without prelicensing but must take the examination.

An applicant for surplus lines must hold a property, casualty or accident/health license before obtaining that line. An applicant for personal lines does not need to apply for that line if they are also applying for property/casualty.
