Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Michigan Tax Tribunal

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Michigan Tax Tribunal:

Judith R. Trepeck of West Bloomfield, president and CEO of The Trepeck Group, LLC, a business consulting firm.  Ms. Trepeck is appointed to represent certified public accountants for a term commencing October 11, 2004 and expiring June 30, 2005.  She succeeds Karen B. McComb who has resigned.

Sherry A. Lee of Detroit, assessor for the City of Birmingham.  Ms. Lee is appointed to represent certified assessors for a term commencing November 22, 2004 and expiring June 30, 2008.  She succeeds Victoria Enyart whose term has expired.

The Michigan Tax Tribunal is a seven-member, multi-disciplinary administrative tax court that has exclusive jurisdiction for all property tax matters. The tribunal also has jurisdiction over final assessments concerning income tax; sales, use, and withholding taxes; single business tax; motor fuel tax; tobacco products tax; and estate tax. In addition to the assessor and accountant members, the tribunal also has an appraiser member, two attorney members and two at-large members.

These appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
