Governor Granholm Makes Appointments to Qualifications Advisory Committee

LANSING – Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointments to the Qualifications Advisory Committee: 

Richard F. Zapala of Haslett, assistant general counsel for Accident Fund Insurance Company of America.  Mr. Zapala is appointed to represent employer interests for a term expiring December 7, 2007.  He succeeds Jack Wheatley who has resigned. 

Sherisse E. Fiorvento of Shelby Township, assistant general counsel and director of compliance for Visteon Corporation in Dearborn.  Ms. Fiorvento is reappointed to represent employer interests for a term expiring October 1, 2008.

Edward M. Welch of East Lansing, director of the Workers’ Compensation Center in the School of Labor and Industrial Relations at Michigan State University.  Mr. Welch is reappointed to represent employee interests for a term commencing expiring October 1, 2008.

The committee reviews and rates applicants interested in serving on the Worker’s Compensation Board of Magistrates and Workers’ Compensation Appellate Commission. 

The above appointment and reappointments are not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
