LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments and reappointments:

Public School Employees' Retirement Board

Paul Lerg of Grayling, retired assistant superintendent and CFO of the Crawford AuSable School District, is appointed to represent members who retired from a finance or operations management position and a member of the largest organization of retirees for a term expiring March 30, 2011.  He succeeds William J. Lawson, Jr. whose term has expired.

Michael Ringuette of West Bloomfield, retirement plan consulting actuary with Watson Wyatt Worldwide, is appointed to represent the general public with experience in health insurance or actuarial science for a term expiring March 30, 2010.  He succeeds Jeffrey Hoffman whose term has expired.

Ivy Bailey of Southfield, teacher for Birney Elementary/Detroit Public Schools, is reappointed to represent classroom teachers and an employee of a school district of the first class for a term expiring March 30, 2012. 

Lenore Croudy of Flint, steward of resource & information for Flint Community Schools and chairperson of the Mott Community College Board of Trustees, is reappointed to represent community college administrators or trustees for a term expiring March 30, 2012. 

Steven Jagusch of Commerce, CEO and registered agent of Steven Jagusch & Associates Financial Planning, is reappointed to represent the general public with experience in investments for a term expiring March 30, 2012. 

Edwin Martinson of Ironwood, teacher for Ironwood Area Schools & Gogebic Community College and member of the Gogebic-Ontonagon Intermediate School District Board, is reappointed to represent an elected member of a reporting unit's board of control for a term expiring March 30, 2012.

Richard Montcalm of Monroe, assistant superintendent of business and finance for Utica Community Schools, is reappointed to represent a school finance or operations manager who is not a superintendent for a term expiring March 30, 2012.

The Public School Employees' Retirement Board is responsible for the investigation of the morality, service, compensation, and other experiences of members and beneficiaries of the public school retirement system.  The board is charged to invest and distribute any or all of the monies.  Additionally, every five years the board must formulate and present a plan to direct the operation of the retirement.   

These appointments and reappointments are subject to Section 6 of Article V of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.

Great Lakes Wind Council

Arnold "Arn" Boezaart of Spring Lake, interim director of the Michigan Alternative & Renewable Energy Center at Grand Valley State University, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring September 1, 2009.

Leonard Bohmann, Ph.D. of Houghton, associate dean of academic affairs for the Michigan Technological University College of Engineering, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring September 1, 2009.

Wilfred Cwikiel of Harbor Springs, principal of Harbor Springs Middle School, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring September 1, 2009.

Margaret "Peg" Gale, Ph.D. of Calumet, dean for the Michigan Technological University School of Forest Resources and Environmental Science, is appointed to represent other residents of this state for a term expiring September 1, 2009.

The Great Lakes Wind Council is an advisory body within the Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth that provides citizens with a public forum to begin to identify where, in the Great Lakes, wind energy systems may be prudently sited.

These appointments are not subject to disapproval by the Michigan Senate.
