| Michigan Community Service Commission Awarded $262,500 to Support Volunteer Efforts The Michigan Community Service Commission, the state's lead agency on service and volunteerism, announced today the receipt of $262,500 in funding to support various volunteer activities and efforts in the state. The grant was provided by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service, as part of their Volunteer Generation Fund.

Mini-Grants Benefit Veterans and Military Families Through Service The Michigan Community Service Commission (MCSC), Michigan Nonprofit Association (MNA), Volunteer Centers of Michigan (VCM), Michigan Campus Compact (MCC), and The LEAGUE Michigan, with support from the Connect Michigan Alliance Endowment Fund and the Corporation for National and Community Service, announced the distribution of $8,810 in mini-grant funds to support 2013 September 11 (9/11) Day of Service and Remembrance projects in Michigan this fall.
| | Michigan Joins Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota & Nebraska in Coaches' Challenge for Mentoring The National Mentoring Partnership has identified 15 million youth in need of a mentor. Each year, in an effort to help close the gap, the head football coaches from universities within Kansas, Iowa, and Nebraska have issued a friendly challenge to see which state can recruit the most new mentors. This year, the challenge will be reinstated with two exciting new additions joining the efforts: the Mentoring Partnership of Minnesota and Mentor Michigan.

| | 2013 Michigan's AmeriCorps Inclusion Photo & Video Contest The Michigan's AmeriCorps Inclusion Photo & Video contest was created to encourage AmeriCorps members and program sites to capture a photo and/or produce a 1-3 minute video to document and display how Michigan's AmeriCorps programs promote, embrace, and incorporate the MCSC mission of inclusion within their respective service areas.
