The purpose of this grant is to implement and coordinate programs for students who are expelled or suspended from school to perform community service. The goal of the program is to provide these students with meaningful activities, help them avoid negative behavior, teach them the value of service to others and their communities, and assist them in returning to an educational environment that is best for the student.
Applications must be received on or before April 5, 2004. The rubrics score sheet will be used as a rating instrument in the review process and can be obtained from the MDE website at www.michigan.gov/mde click on GRANTS, then click on Community Service Grant Contracts and Community Service Grant Contracts Rubric Score Sheet.
