Office of Nursing Programs
Office of Nursing Programs
The Office of Nursing Programs (ONP) receives its funding from the Nurse Professional Fund. Efforts of this office focus on data collection, research, analysis, and support for collaborative stakeholder engagement in symposiums, pilot efforts, and demonstration projects to facilitate the modernization and advancement of nursing education and practice in Michigan. The efforts of the ONP are determined each year based on a review of national and statewide research, data, and trends as well as state issues and priority needs.

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” Mahatma Gandhi
The Office of Nursing Safety and Workforce Planning (ONP) of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) would like to acknowledge all nurses within the state of Michigan. There are countless ways to say how instrumental the nursing workforce is to the lives of Michiganders. Nurses are irreplaceable, unparalleled, exceptional! The ONP is committed to promoting safe patient care in all nursing practice environments, advancing the safe practice of the nursing profession, and assuring a continuous supply of high-quality direct care nurses, nurse faculty, and nursing education programs. Our recent efforts include partnering with practice institutions to provide nursing retention strategies to support the workforce. In ever-changing and increasingly difficult times, the nurse often finds themselves facing adversity. It is this office’s intent to not have these challenges be faced alone or to be left unaddressed by operating as an ally and change agent for the nurses of Michigan. Thank you, nurses, for the selfless and incredible work you do in the service of others.
