August 25, 2003 - The Michigan Department of Transportation has launched its new Web site for the Transportation Summit scheduled to be held in December. The Web site was made available on Aug. 8, 2003 and will allow Michigan residents to voice their comments and thoughts regarding nine key issues adopted by the Transportation Summit Planning Team.
Anyone interested in voicing their ideas or suggestions can go to www.mdot.state.mi.us/summit2003/ to register your comments. Internet users can select any of the nine issues and submit their comments which will be posted for all Web users to review. The primary topics of discussion will be 1) Asset Management, 2) Research and Evaluation, 3) Land Use, 4) Need for Mobility Options (Urban and Rural), 5) Communication, Consciousness Raising and Public Involvement, 6) Safety, 7) Commerce and Trade, 8) Coordination, Cooperation and Connectivity and 9) Funding. All pertinent input received will be utilized at the Summit.
The Transportation Planning Team met on July 28 and Aug. 4 to discuss Asset Management and Research and Evaluation, respectively. All information ensuing from these meetings will be available on the Transportation Summit Web site. Michigan residents are encouraged to log onto the Web site and voice their opinions and suggestions. The Planning team will continue to meet on a bi-weekly basis to discuss the remaining Summit topics.
