Clinton Township Pharmacist Has License Summarily Suspended

Contact:  James McCurtis, Jr. (517) 241-2112
Agency: Community Health

October 22, 2008

The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has summarily suspended the pharmacist license of Kimberly Anne Marshall, R.Ph. The DCH Bureau of Health Professions orders a summary suspension when it believes that the public's health, safety, and welfare warrant emergency action.

Marshall, 41, was arrested, in part, for knowingly dispensing at least 32 fraudulent prescriptions for the controlled substances OxyContin, Vicodin, and Xanx, which were then sold on the street. The criminal matter remains pending.

On Oct. 10, 2008, MDCH issued an order immediately suspending Marshall's license pursuant to the Public Health Code. An administrative hearing will be scheduled to address the status of Marshall's license.

For more information on disciplinary actions taken by the health professional licensing boards within MDCH, please go to http://www.michigan.gov/mdch, and click on Health Systems and Licensing.
