The Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH) has immediately suspended the licensed practical nurse license of Trina Marie Ernst, L.P.N., based on her conviction in the 55th Judicial Circuit Court, Gladwin County, Michigan. Earnst, 48, failed to report her conviction to MDCH as required by the Public Health Code.
On Aug. 3, 2009, Earnst was convicted of one count of medical records-intentionally placing false information on chart - health care provider, a felony, and one count of vulnerable adult abuse - third degree, a misdemeanor. As a result, Ernest was sentenced to a minimum of 17 months imprisonment (four years maximum) and ordered to pay fines and costs totaling $128.00.
On Nov. 4, 2009, MDCH issued an order summarily suspending Ernst's license pursuant to the Public Health Code, which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional's license upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
