Algonac State Park is best known for its views of freighters traveling along the St. Clair River. The 1,550-acre park boasts a half-mile of riverfront, campgrounds, trails and a 1,200-plus-acre dedicated natural area. The park features rare habitats, including lake plain prairies and oak savannas that are home to 22 threatened, endangered or special-concern species of plants, birds and butterflies.
The Algonac State Park Shooting Range includes archery, hand trap and rifle/handgun ranges. The site is unstaffed.
The 54-mile Bridge to Bay Trail goes through the park. The trail is open to hiking, running and biking.

There is a picnic shelter located in the day-use area that includes picnic tables, charcoal grills, a water source, electrical service (reservations only) and vault toilets. Shelter reservations can be made 12 months in advance at MiDNRReservations.com.

The Algonac State Park Shooting Range includes archery, hand trap and handgun ranges. It is unstaffed.

Boat launch
There is a small boat launch open to kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards.
Fishing
The St. Clair River shoreline is well known for fishing, including walleye fishing. For anglers using boats, the Marine City and Algonac North Channel boating access sites are located within 4 miles.

Hunting is allowed in the state park; however, you should call this park directly to inquire about any special rules, concerns or considerations
Metal detecting
Metal detecting is allowed in certain park areas. Please consult the park map for designated locations and review applicable regulations. Only registered campers can metal detect in campgrounds.
Nature programs
Seasonal naturalists offer nature-based programming at the park during the summer and/or fall. Check the park's explorer program calendar for dates, locations and topics.
Paddling
Paddling is a popular activity on the St. Clair River, which connects to Lake St. Clair.
Pet-friendly features
Pets are allowed along the entire length of the St. Clair River. Pets must always be on a 6-foot leash and under an owner’s immediate control. All pet waste must be properly disposed of in trash receptacles.
Picnic area
The picnic area is in the day-use area and includes picnic tables and charcoal grills that are available first come, first served.
Playground
There’s a sensory play area located adjacent to the Bishop Lake modern campground.
Sanitation station
The park’s sanitation station is located at Bishop Lake modern campground. There is potable water available and two lanes.

Algonac Modern Wagon Wheel Modern Campground
The modern campground is shaped in a circle, much like a wagon wheel. The campground is set back in the woods and features a paved pad on each site. The campground has a woodsy, "up north" feel. The St. Clair River is about a 10-minute walk away. There are three ADA accessible campground sites.

Algonac Modern Riverfront Modern Campground
The modern campground has 220 sites in the north and south loops. The campground is known for up-close views of international freighters along the St. Clair River. Generally speaking, the campsites are generous in size and level. A majority of sites have gravel pads. There are two ADA accessible campground sites.
Please note that the north section of the campground features full hookup sites, meaning there are no shared restrooms or showers in that area

The rustic group-use site is available for groups up to 50. The campground provides picnic tables, a fire pit and a vault toilet.
Reservations can be made by calling the park office.
