Bewabic State Park

Bewabic State Park

Bewabic State Park is situated on Fortune Lake, which is part of the Fortune Lakes Chain. The park is home to both modern and rustic campsites, a day-use area, a tennis court, hiking trails, a boat launch and more. The park is rich with Civilian Conservation Corps history, which is evident by several CCC structures still in use. The park is site #9 along the Iron County Heritage Trail system.

The park is one of just a few state parks that allow the operation of an ORV between the campground and nearby ORV trails. Please note: ORV use is for exiting and entering the park only, not for traveling within the park. The park connects to Twin Lakes and Baraga state parks and Bond Falls Scenic Site via several motorized routes. Visit MI-TRALE.org (online maps of signed ATV, side-by-side and multi-use trails in the Western Upper Peninsula) or the DNR's interactive ORV route and trail map.

Other nearby points of interest include Piers Gorge in Menominee River State Recreation Area, Bond Falls Scenic Site (1 hour west) Horse Race Rapids, Pentoga Park, Iron Mountain Iron Mine and the Iron County Museum in Caspian.

The 130-site modern campground features three loops (A, B and C) and boasts a number of shady and wooded sites. The sites are popular because they offer a little more privacy, with trees and vegetation between most sites. There are four rustic walk-in campsites (#107-110) that require a short walk (within 125 yards) from the parking lot (no electrical).

Bewabic is one of just a few state parks that allow the operation of an ORV between the campground and nearby ORV trails. ORV use is for exiting and entering the park only, not for traveling within the park.

ORV route and trail maps are available for purchase at the park (pending availability) or by visiting MI-TRALE.org (online maps of signed ATV, side-by-side and multiuse trails in the Western Upper Peninsula) or the DNR's interactive ORV route and trail map.
